As an engagement photographer based in Charleston, SC, I’ve had the pleasure of working with many incredible couples, and Dustii and Hal are no exception. Their engagement session at the historic College of Charleston was not only meaningful but also a beautiful representation of their love story, which began right here in Charleston.
Dustii and Hal first met during college, both originally from upstate South Carolina. What’s special about their session at the College of Charleston is that it took place at the very location where their journey began. The cobblestone streets, iconic buildings, and Spanish moss-draped trees made for the perfect setting to capture the essence of their relationship. The campus, with its timeless Southern charm, holds deep significance for them, as it was where they met, and where they created some of their first memories together.
Dustii and Hal have been together for five years, and in the next five, they dream of having a wonderful marriage and growing their family with children. Throughout the session, their love was evident in every interaction. Dustii spoke about Hal’s ability to make her laugh no matter the situation — whether she’s in a bad mood or having a tough day, Hal can turn it around with just one look. This playfulness and connection between them was a joy to photograph.
On the other hand, Hal shared how much he admires Dustii for pushing him to be his best, even when it means stepping outside of his comfort zone. He feels complete when they’re together and described her as the one who always makes him feel whole. The bond they share is one of mutual support, love, and laughter, which made every moment of this session truly special.
For their engagement session, Dustii and Hal chose blue as their main color for their outfits, which complemented the historic architecture and natural beauty of the College of Charleston campus. The soft hues of their outfits paired perfectly with the warm tones of the surrounding environment, enhancing the romantic atmosphere of the photos.
Each corner of the College of Charleston offered a new opportunity to capture their love—from the grand steps of Randolph Hall to the picturesque alleyways that wind through the campus. The iconic Southern backdrop was a perfect match for Dustii and Hal’s personalities, creating a timeless feel in their engagement photos.
