If you’re dreaming of a romantic proposal that feels straight out of The Notebook, Boone Hall Plantation & Gardens is the perfect place. Located just outside of Charleston, this venue is famous for its beautiful oak trees, historic charm, and peaceful atmosphere — making it one of the best places to propose in the Charleston area.

Boone Hall is most famous for its Avenue of Oaks — a stunning road lined with huge live oak trees covered in Spanish moss. It’s a one-of-a-kind backdrop that instantly gives your proposal a romantic, Southern feel. Whether you want something private or a more grand, cinematic setting, Boone Hall offers both.
Boone Hall is open: Monday–Saturday: 9 AM to 5 PM and Sunday: 12 PM to 5 PM
The best time for a proposal session is 9 AM (right at opening) or 3 PM when the light is soft and the crowds are smaller. These times give us the most privacy and the best lighting for your photos.

Plan A: Under the Oaks by the Barn Fence
This area is just off the main road and close to the parking lot. It’s peaceful, surrounded by oak trees, and not too busy — great for a quiet and emotional moment. Plan B: On the Avenue of Oaks
This is Boone Hall’s most iconic view — the long, oak-lined road you’ve probably seen in movies. It’s stunning, but it is a road used by cars and visitors, so we’ll need to wait for the right moment when the background is clear. If you want a classic Charleston scene, this is it.

Once the big moment happens (and you hear that “yes!”), we’ll take more relaxed and staged photos around the plantation. Boone Hall offers so many beautiful spots for pictures — from the rustic barn with its nearby horses that give a unique countryside feel, to the colorful formal gardens that change with the seasons. We’ll also stop by the front of the main house for a grand, elegant look, and of course, capture a few timeless shots by the iconic iron gate. I’ll guide you through it all to make sure we capture stunning memories from every angle.
