As an engagement photographer in Charleston, every new session feels like a small adventure, an opportunity to tell a unique love story. Each couple I meet brings a fresh narrative, and with Katelyn and Colby, this was no exception. Our destination for their engagement session was the serene and historic Charleston Tea Garden, located just south of the city. It’s a place unlike any other — a beautiful blend of tradition and tranquility, where the charm of the South is palpable in every corner.
Charleston Tea Garden, the only tea plantation in the United States, offers a unique backdrop for engagement photos. The towering oaks, steeped in history, seem to whisper stories from the past as you walk along the paths that have witnessed countless moments of joy and love. This picturesque setting was the perfect complement to Katelyn and Colby’s story.
After capturing the charm of the Tea Garden, we moved to Angel Oak Park for the second part of the session. Located close to the Tea Garden, Angel Oak Park is one of the most romantic and popular locations for photo sessions in Charleston. The sprawling branches of the ancient Angel Oak tree create a magical atmosphere, adding a timeless quality to the photos. This spot, with its blend of natural beauty and historical significance, perfectly encapsulated the essence of Katelyn and Colby’s love.
Katelyn and Colby’s love story began like many others — with a first date that neither of them wanted to end. What started as a simple day out quickly became something special, a connection that grew stronger with every passing moment. Reflecting on their second date, Katelyn shared, “Colby brought me a single rose, and I cooked a full-course steak dinner. We watched football and spent the evening getting to know each other better. From that moment on, we were inseparable.”
During our photo session, the love between them was unmistakable. It was in the way they looked at each other, the gentle tones of their voices, and the laughter they shared. Katelyn spoke of Colby’s thoughtfulness: “He listens and remembers the important things. He is hard-working and dedicated to whatever has his focus. Colby would do whatever it takes to make me happy, no matter what. He is the best thing that has ever happened to me, and I cherish all of our moments together.”
Colby, in turn, admires Katelyn’s kindness and acceptance. “She doesn’t try to change me or make me someone I’m not. With Katelyn, I can be myself, without fear of judgment. She accepts me for who I am, and that’s something I truly love about her.”
The engagement session at Charleston Tea Garden and Angel Oak Park was filled with emotion and genuine connection. It’s moments like these that remind me why I love what I do — capturing the essence of love in its purest form.
Thank you, Katelyn and Colby, for allowing me to be a part of your journey. And remember, even on the gloomiest of days, a smile is the light that will never fade.
