As Charleston wedding photographers, we’re honored to have captured Katharine and John’s timeless wedding at Creek Club at I’On. Their love story began years ago when they attended the same middle and high schools, though their paths didn’t truly cross until their mid-twenties at a mutual friend’s birthday party. After a perfect first date at a Norfolk Tides baseball game, they knew they had found something special.
Their venue choice was a reflection of their journey as a couple. Having moved to Charleston in April 2022 and gotten engaged here just two months later, they felt deeply connected to their new hometown. The Creek Club at I’On offered the perfect compromise: John’s dream of being by the water and Katharine’s vision of a romantic, intimate indoor space. The result was a day filled with love, elegance, and unforgettable memories shared with family and friends.
Katharine and John started their day in separate Airbnbs, allowing them to prepare in comfort and style. These private spaces created an intimate setting for laughter, reflection, and excitement with their wedding parties. The relaxed atmosphere helped set the tone for their classic, love-filled wedding day.
One of the most heartwarming moments of the day was John’s portraits with their dog. Including their furry family members added a personal and playful touch to their photos, creating memories that truly reflected the couple’s love for their pet.
Katharine and John chose the garden area of the Creek Club for their First Look. This intimate and emotional moment allowed them to share a quiet time together before the festivities began. The natural beauty of the gardens provided a serene and romantic backdrop for these cherished photographs.
The bridal party joined Katharine and John for portraits that showcased the timeless elegance of their black-and-white formal theme. These photos captured the joy and excitement of their closest friends and family, all set against the stunning Creek Club scenery.
Katharine and John’s vintage trolley added a unique charm to their day, providing a standout element for their wedding portraits. The trolley served as both transportation and a delightful backdrop for stunning photos of the couple, highlighting their classic wedding style.
The outdoor ceremony, held during golden hour, was truly a sight to behold. Facing the marsh area, the scene was bathed in soft, warm light as the sun set. Golden grass and Spanish moss created an unforgettable atmosphere as Katharine and John exchanged vows in front of their loved ones.
Guests mingled and enjoyed cocktails as the sun set over the marsh, basking in the golden glow of the evening. This time allowed for candid moments to be captured while everyone celebrated the couple in a relaxed, scenic setting.
As the day turned into evening, Katharine and John took breathtaking sunset photos with the Creek Club’s iconic marsh views. The addition of light-up marquee letters “K” and “J” created a striking visual, and family portraits during this time perfectly captured the love and joy shared by everyone present.
The reception was a celebration of love, laughter, and elegant details. The Creek Club’s indoor space was transformed with romantic candlelight, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The black-and-white theme carried into the reception, with sophisticated table settings, floral arrangements, and ambient lighting. The couple’s cake, decorated with portraits of their beloved pets, was both beautiful and personal, a true reflection of their lives together. Heartfelt speeches from loved ones brought laughter and happy tears, while the first dances showcased Katharine and John’s love and connection.
A standout feature of the evening was the cigar bar, where guests enjoyed a unique touch of sophistication. The dramatic smoke provided an opportunity for creative and artistic photographs, capturing the mood of the evening in a fun and stylish way.
The couple’s grand exit was nothing short of spectacular. Surrounded by cheering guests holding sparklers, Katharine and John made their way to a vintage car that perfectly complemented their classic wedding style. This unforgettable moment was the perfect end to their magical day.
Every moment of Katharine and John’s wedding was thoughtfully captured by Charleston Photo Art. From the intimate First Look to the grand sparkler exit, their gallery showcases the beauty and emotion of their day. If you’re planning a Charleston wedding, we’d be honored to capture your love story too.
