There’s something truly magical about Magnolia Plantation and Gardens in Charleston, and it became the perfect setting for Haley and Jacob’s engagement session. Their story is one of love, laughter, and resilience — a journey that began in 2019 when they met as graduate students at Indiana University.
A Love Story Forged in Music and Quarantine
Haley and Jacob were both percussion master’s students who met during a group lesson. Their friendship quickly blossomed into something more, and by February of 2020, they were officially a couple. Soon after, the world shut down due to the pandemic, and like many couples, they found themselves navigating the new realities of life together in quarantine. Their bond only grew stronger during this time, and four years later, they are not only partners in life but also in their shared passion for music and teaching.
Looking Toward a Bright Future
When I spoke with Haley and Jacob about their future, they both lit up with excitement. As teachers, they recently landed their dream jobs where they get to work together to build steel drum programs in their schools. In the next few years, they hope to take their students to major state and national conferences, becoming an awesome working couple who inspire their students. They also envision starting a family, with kids being a part of their future when the time feels right.
A Perfect Pair
One of the most touching aspects of Haley and Jacob’s relationship is their deep admiration for each other. Haley shared that Jacob’s sense of humor keeps their life fun and easy. No matter how tough the day has been, he always manages to put a smile on her face. Their life together feels full and complete with their two amazing dogs, and their engagement session was filled with warmth and joy that reflected their incredible connection.
