As a Charleston engagement photographer, I have the privilege of capturing countless love stories in this historic city. One of my favorite sessions was with Aleksandra and Matthew at the picturesque Waterfront Park. Their love story began during work training, where they first met while introducing themselves to their class. What started as a simple introduction quickly evolved into a deep connection that has led them to this exciting moment in their lives.
For their engagement session, we chose to meet at Waterfront Park at sunrise — a truly magical time of day for photography in Charleston. Not only does the early morning light provide perfect, soft illumination, but the park is also serene and free from the usual tourist crowds. The tranquility of the park at this hour allowed Aleksandra and Matthew to relax and be fully present with each other, resulting in beautifully candid shots that truly reflect their love.
When I asked Aleksandra what she loves most about Matthew, she said, “Matt is the most intelligent, compassionate, and stubborn individual I have ever met. No matter what is happening, he’s my rock.” Matthew, equally touched, shared that “She is the most fiery, passionate, and strong woman I have ever met.” Their words speak to the strong bond they share, and during the session, this was evident in every smile, glance, and embrace.
The early morning sun cast a golden glow over the waterfront, making each shot feel like a painting come to life. We took advantage of the park’s iconic views — the sweeping oak trees, the famous pineapple fountain, and the peaceful waterfront — to create a series of photos that truly encapsulated their unique love story.
What made this session even more special is that Aleksandra and Matthew have also entrusted me to capture their wedding day. I am honored to be a part of their journey and document the next chapter of their lives.
