A Springtime Surprise Proposal Under the Avenue of Oaks

In April, Jimmy and Mekha visited Charleston for a relaxing vacation — at least, that’s what Mekha thought. What she didn’t know was that Jimmy had been carefully planning a surprise proposal at one of Charleston’s most iconic locations: Boone Hall Plantation and Gardens.

He chose the breathtaking Avenue of Oaks as the backdrop for this unforgettable proposal moment. With spring in full bloom, the plantation was bursting with color — vibrant flowers, fresh greenery, and golden sunlight made the setting feel straight out of a fairytale.

To keep everything a surprise, Jimmy told Mekha they were headed to a plantation tour. We had already agreed on the exact proposal spot, so I was in position, ready and waiting. As they walked hand in hand down the majestic oak-lined road, Jimmy paused in the middle of the avenue, dropped to one knee, and asked Mekha to marry him.

The emotional moment, surrounded by endless rows of towering oaks, couldn’t have been more perfect. Afterward, we explored the plantation and captured a beautiful collection of posed portraits that reflected their joy and love.

It truly was the perfect day for a surprise proposal in Charleston.
